Concerning Prostate Cancer: Limit or no red meat, fat, and processed foods; increase vegetable consumption; increase lycopene consumed from its natural food source (not supplement). Certain vitamins are thought to reduce the risk of Prostate Cancer. Still, others are believed to raise the risk. The reason for this is that the chemical agent responsible for the protective response is not always known. For example, a diet rich in foods containing beta carotene have been shown to reduce lung cancer in smokers. However, beta carotene taken in supplement form may actually increase lung cancer in smokers by as much as 25%.
